The Future of New Media and the
Crisis of Significance in Education
The most significant problem in education today is the problem of significance itself. Students, our most important critics, are struggling to find meaning and significance in their education, often turning on Facebook and tuning out their lectures. In this talk I will discuss the growing cultural divide between students and teachers, and demonstrate ways to harness and leverage the possibilities of new media in ways that bring significance back into the classroom and prepare our students for emerging new media environments.
