Book Sales and Signings
Over 30 authors and illustrators will be on hand to meet participants and sign copies of their books, which will be for sale at the event. Each author and illustrator will have an opportunity to give a short, 10 minute, presentation. The Author Fair is free and open to the public on the Grand Terrace of the Monona Terrace Convention Center. The works of these authors provide a cross section of ages, cultures and genres. Lorna Balian’s Humbug Witch was first published in 1965 and is still very popular with young readers. She won a number of awards throughout the years and now her daughter, Lecia Balian, has followed in her footsteps as an illustrator of children’s books. Patricia Pfitsch feels like she was born in the wrong century. Her historical fiction is reminiscent of Little House on the Prairie. Kashmira Sheth’s Blue Jasmine is described as “A realistic emigration story told with empathy and sincerity” by Kirkus Reviews. She won the Paul Zindel First Novel Award for this title. Fransisco X. Mora is a Milwaukee artist who has also illustrated several picture books, some which are written in both English and Spanish.
